BBC Sport: Chelsea kept their slim title hopes alive with victory at West Ham. Florent Malouda went close as Chelsea dominated before Kieron Dyer was denied by Peter Cech and Diego Tristan's flick was cleared off the line.

Sky Sports: The away side dominated the early part of the game, but Kieron Dyer - in the starting line-up for the first time since August 2007 - should have given the hosts a lead shortly after, only to shoot tamely at Cech after Diego Tristan had split the Chelsea defence.

Hammer's Diary: Dyer was quiet. He had the best chance of the game, early in the first half, having been put through clear on goal by a delightful trick from Tristan. But he shot straight at Cech. He was replaced after 60 minutes by Kovac, who had an absolute nightmare. (Iain Dale)

The Guardian: Kieron Dyer has not had much to smile about since he suffered his double leg-break at Bristol Rovers in the Carling Cup on Tuesday of last week. But the West Ham United midfielder, who faces between six and nine months out of the game, enjoyed a lift on Friday night, just before the closure of the summer transfer window, when an unexpected visitor dropped into his hospital room. "It was funny because Nobby Solano was having his medical in the same hospital as me at about 11pm so he popped in to see me and tell me he was my team-mate again which brought a huge smile to my face," said Dyer, who played with Solano at Newcastle. "I had a great relationship with Nobby on and off the pitch, he's going to be a wonderful acquisition for West Ham and I know the fans will adore him." Solano joined on a free transfer, having cited a wish to be closer to his two children in London, and he will offer cover in midfield for the stricken Dyer, who had left Newcastle for Upton Park a little over two weeks previously.... Dyer has undergone surgery and is back at home in Ipswich, resting before he begins his rehabilitation programme next week. "The doctors were delighted with how the operation went and if there are any consolations to this, they did explain to me that the best place to break your leg is in the middle of the shin because there are usually more complications when it is closer to the ankle, like what happened to Dean Ashton," said Dyer. (David Hytner, 6th September, 2007)

BBC Sport: West Ham moved into the third round of the Carling Cup but the win at Bristol Rovers was marred by the suspected broken leg suffered by Kieron Dyer. Dyer went down in agony following a tackle by Joe Jacobson after a few minutes and was taken off on a stretcher after lengthy treatement. Craig Bellamy put the visitors ahead, blasting home from 25-yards. Bellamy then raced onto a long ball to fire in the second but Andy Williams' fine run and finish made it 2-1. (28th August, 2007)

KUMB: Did enough to suggest he might be a useful acquisition but lack of time with his new team-mates was all-too apparent. (East End Martin, 20th August, 2007)

BBC: West Ham have signed England midfielder Kieron Dyer from Newcastle. The deal, believed to be in the region of £6m, was revived and completed two weeks after Hammers boss Alan Curbshley said it was "definitely off". Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce claimed the original deal collapsed after the Hammers refused to pay an escalated fee of £8m for Dyer. The 28-year-old Dyer was keen to leave St James' Park to move south and be nearer to his family. Curbishley added: "We're delighted to get the player in. "If you look at his history over the last couple of years he missed a lot of games with his hamstring - but once he got it sorted, he played 33 games and scored eight goals. "He also played for England against Spain, Brazil and Andorra - so he is a current England international, and we are delighted to have him on board." (16th August, 2007)

WHUFC: With no time to waste, Kieron will train with the team tomorrow then be included in the squad to travel to Birmingham for Saturday's match, but potentially being thrown straight into the team is not something that phases the 28-year-old midfielder and he adds he would be happy to play in whatever position is chosen for him. "It is probably one of my strengths - my ability to hit the ground running, so even though I have had a bit of a stop start pre-season if the manager asks me to play at Birmingham on Saturday I would be totally up for the challenge. "I think the gaffer sees me as quite a versatile player who can play through the centre whether that be off the strikers or as a central-midfielder that is obviously up to him but if I am required to step in to cover for any of the wide players that would be okay because I am comfortable on the left or the right and I happy at full-back as well." (16th August, 2007)
