Hammer's Diary: I’ve never been convinced by Kovac. He flutters around the pitch and flatters to deceive. He looks hyperactive, yet it is difficult to see him as a creative influence. His passing is weak and his first touch sometimes non existent. But the boy can shoot from distance as he proved against Everton. In four months he only made seven starts. Enough said.
The Times: Defeat ended West Ham’s hopes of a European place, probably a blessing in disguise given the lack of depth in Gianfranco Zola’s squad. The Italian, who has done exceptionally well in his first season as manager, will take a couple of weeks to assess his side’s deficiencies. David Di Michele and Radoslav Kovac, who lashed home from 35 yards, are unlikely to have their loans extended. (Gary Jacob)
Sky Sports: The visitors took the lead against the run of play when Radoslav Kovac picked up the ball 35 yards out and blasted a long-range effort into the net as Everton stood off him.
Hammers Mad: It was Everton asking all the questions, but against the run of play the Hammers stunned their opponents and stole an opener with a 30-yard thunderbolt from Kovac. The Czech international latched on to a pass from Mark Noble in the middle of the park and let rip into the right-hand corner of the goal.

Hammer's Diary: Kovacs was industrious and player far further forward than I was expecting. He’s not the quickest, but he was at the centre of everything.
