Objectives

The children should learn:

(a) about the differences between the Anglo-Saxons and the Normans;

(b) about the conflict between Edward the Confessor and Earl Godwin;

(c) the importance of Harold Godwinson's meeting with William of Normandy in 1064.

Outcomes

Children should have knowledge of:

(a) the lives of Edward Confessor, Earl Godwin and Harold Godwinson;

(b) the political conflict between the Anglo-Saxons and the Normans;

(c) the way Norman writers and artists attempted to influence the way the past is represented and interpreted.
