Objectives

The children should learn:

(a) about the problems of defending the coasts of England from two different enemies.

(b) the structure of the king's army in 1066

(c) about the problems of using historical sources created in the 11th century


Outcomes

Children should have knowledge of:

(a) how King Harold attempted to defend England from invasion

(b) the Battle of Stamford Bridge

(c) the decisions made by King Harold after hearing that William of Normandy had landed at Pevensey Bay
