George
Alexander was born in Reading in 1858. He made his acting debut at
Nottingham in 1879. In 1891 Oscar
Wilde arranged for Alexander to produce and act in the first production
of Lady Windermere's Fan. Alexander
also appeared with Irene Vanbrugh in
The Importance of Being Ernest
in 1895. She also appeared with Beerbohm Tree
and Robertson Hare. George Alexander died in 1918.
