Lute Pease was born in 1869. He joined the Newark Evening News in 1914 and remained there for over thirty years. Pease, who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1949 for his cartoon, Who Me? Special reference was made to his many caricatures of trade union leader, John L. Lewis. Pease died in 1963.
