Brighton College was founded in 1845 by a few prominent residents in the town, with the object of providing "a thoroughly liberal and practical education in conformity with the principles of the Established Church". The college is situated in the Kemp Town district of Brighton. The main block of buildings, designed by Sir Gilbert Scott, were built between 1848 and 1866.
