Cadwalader
became the Welsh king of Gwynedd in 625. With Penda,
king of Mercia, he invaded the Christian kingdom of Northumbria in
633 and killed King Edwin at the Battle of Heathfield. Bede
claims that he ravaged the kingdom. Cadwalader was killed by Edwin's
nephew, Oswald at Hexham in 634.
