Kings and Queens of England: 1066-1935 was a series of cigarette cards issued by John Player & Sons in 1933. Most of the portraits used on the cards were from contemporary paintings. However, accurate representations have not survived of eleven of the kings: William I, William II, Henry I, Stephen, Henry II, Richard I, John, Henry III, Edward I, Edward II and Edward III. It was decided that these pictures should be based on engravings produced by George Vertue (1684-1756).
