Thomas Walsingham was a
Benedictine monk at St Albans Abbey. He continued the work started
by Matthew Paris,
the Chronica Majora (Greater Chronicle).
His chronicles cover the period 1259 to 1422. He also wrote a history
of the world from the creation to 1392. A conservative historian,
Walsingham was extremely critical of the teachings of John
Wycliffe and
John Ball. Thomas Walsingham died in 1422.
