Thomas Wykes was born in
Suffolk in about 1222. After studying at Oxford
he became rector of Caiser St Edmunds in Norfolk. In 1182 Thomas Wykes
entered Osney monastery where he was put in charge of their annals.
Although Wykes was critical of certain aspects of Henry Ill's rule,
he supported the king against Simon de Montfort.
Thomas Wykes died in about 1293.
