Jack Warner was born in Preston in 1883. He joined Preston North End in 1902. A left-back he played in only 11 games in the 1902-03 season when the club won the Second Division championship.

Unable to win back his place in the first team he moved to Southampton. Warner suffered from a knee injury during his time at the club. He later moved to Portsmouth where he stayed until 1915.

After the First World War he joined former Preston players, Bob Holmes, John Morley and Billy Greer in coaching Dick Kerr Ladies, the best woman's football team in England. Later he became Portsmouth's trainer.

Jack Warner died in 1948.
