Santo
Jeger was born
on 20th May 1898. Educated at University College, Cardiff, he became
a doctor at St. Mary's Hospital. He joined the Labour
Party and was mayor of Shoreditch and a member of the London County
Council (1931-46). He was also a founder member of the Socialist Medical
Association.
In the
1945 General Election Jeger was elected to
represent South East St. Pancras in the House
of Commons. Elected to Holborn and St. Pancras in February 1950
he held the seat until his death on 24th September 1953.
