SchoolHistory:
A redeveloped and vastly improved comprehensive revision section from
SchoolHistory. Each topic provides the best revision-based activities
and weblinks, interactive diagrams ideal for revision together with
relevant interactive games and quizzes. The structure allows students
to select which areas they feel they need to revise and either test
themselves or develop their own revision notes using the guidance
provided. Developed using the expert submissions of other teachers,
this new revision area now covers World War I (1914-18), Weimar and
Nazi Germany (1918-45), Russia/USSR (1917-53), USA: Depression and
the New Deal (1929-41), International Relations (1919-39), Impact
of War (1914-1945), Superpower Relations (1945-89), USA: Divided Union
(1941-80), Medicine and Public Health through Time, The American West,
Crime and Punishment through Time and Agriculture. Links to the best
teacher created websites for revision have also obviously been included.
The Students'
History Help forum is also built in to allow students to post
requests and queries.
GCSE
History: This site is designed specifically for students of Schools
History Project GCSE. It offers extensive revision activities for
the history of medicine and Germany 1919-45 and links also out to
the very best external links for these topics in an integrated way.
Revision tips, source evaluation tips and revision activities for
printing and use offline are also features of the site. There is an
exam practice section where students can download practice papers
and sample mark schemes for use in self assessment and marking offline.
A recent feature has been the development of a Key Stage 3 area which
although in its infancy offers some useful revision lesson activities
for Key Stage 3 students.
SHP
History Revision: This website offers a wide range of revision
activities for students following the Schools History Project course.
Students can refresh their knowledge of Medicine through time and
Weimar and Nazi Germany through reading student friendly text, trying
their luck in the quizzes section or through attempting more detailed
lessons. Revision notes covering the key aspects of the syllabus are
also available for downloading. The website also includes a Revision
Guide. All major subject areas are catered for in this easy to use
directory of revision materials. Tips can be obtained on how to cope
with the stress of the exams period and writing techniques for last
minute coursework along with a range of links to handy revision exercises.
Learn
History Revision Section: This site has a rapidly expanding section
for students of the American West study of the Schools History Project
at GCSE. Available are revision notes on some of the key topics such
as the Mormons, Gold miners and homesteaders. Now complete is the
USA Divided Union 1941-80 section for the Modern World History syllabus.
Students can revise the key points, listen to a speech by Martin Luther
King and visit some chosen sites for further study. The Vietnam War
key points section is also attracting interest and will be expanded
upon in due course. Finally, the new Crime and Punishment section
is being developed for the much-overlooked study in development for
SHP. The site is also useful for students and teachers following the
exciting new Edexcel coursework studies of Jack the Ripper and Football.
Weatherhead:
As the GCSEs get closer it is important for History students to begin
their revision. Nicky Boughey has developed a Revision Notes section
of her website to specifically target the revision of GCSE Economic
and Social History. It is tailormade to the Weatherhead High School
Media Arts College History Syllabus but would be extremely useful
to any pupils studying the agricultural revolution, transport and
communications, Chartism and the Home Front. Each of these topics
has a comprehensive set of revision notes and leading up to the actual
examinations there will be practice papers available online for them
to print off and have a go at.
Greenfield
History Site: Modern World History GCSE revision site with information
pages on GCSE topics, collapsible revision sheets, exemplar essays
and revision advice. New features added in response to visitors
suggestions include: new pages on Nazi Germany and the Causes of World
War II, a recommended revision books page, a site search,
and a revision forum where pupils can ask questions about which they
are worried.
Passmores
History Revision: This website is designed for students studying
the Medicine Through Time section of the Schools History Project GCSE.
It offers extensive revision activities for the history of medicine.
Stephen Drew has created a series of questions to help the students
revise. Instead of just finding out about the people and events of
each time period, the students are encouraged to answer the questions
by making notes, diagrams or tables. The information is organised
under the following headings: Prehistoric, Egyptian, Greek, Roman,
Dark Ages, Renaissance, 19th Century and 20th Century.
International
GCSE History Revision: Produced at the International School of
Toulouse for students of the Cambridge IGCSE history examination,
this site is a hypertext curriculum structured around each of the
key questions and focus points of the 20th century core component
and the popular Germany 1918-1945 option. 80% of the site is student
produced and includes student websites, essays and plans, revision
diagrams, videos and notes. The revision section includes worked examples
of all question types, syllabus details, revision tips, past papers
and links to recommended revision sites.
