Timofei Mikhailov

 

Timofei Mikhailov, the son of a peasant, was born in Smolensk in 1860. He moved to St. Petersburg where he found work in a factory. Mikhailov became involved in revolutionary politics and joined the Workers' Section of the People's Will.

In March, 1881, he was arrested and charged with taking part in the assassination of Alexander II. Others involved in the plot included Sophia Perovskaya, Gesia Gelfman, Nikolai Sablin, Ignatei Grinevitski, Andrei Zhelyabov and Nikolai Rysakov.

Ignatei Grinevitski was killed during the assassination, whereas Nikolai Sablin committed suicide before he could be arrested. Timofei Mikhailov, Sophia Perovskaya, Andrei Zhelyabov and Nikolai Rysakov were hanged on 3rd April, 1881.
