Arthur Ronald Nall-Cain, 2nd Baron Brocket, was an active member of the Conservative Party. In the 1930s he developed extreme right-wing opinions and became a member of several anti-Semitic organizations including the Anglo-German Fellowship.
He hosted several meetings for those supporters of Nazi Germany at his two great houses, Brocket Hall in Hertfordshire and Bramshill Park, in Hampshire. He was also a close associate of Neville Chamberlain.
In April 1939 Brocket travelled to Nazi Germany with Major-General John Fuller and Duke of Beccleuch to celebrate the fiftieth birthday of Adolf Hitler.
After the outbreak of the Second World War Brocket urged a negotiated peace settlement with Germany. He worked closely with Arthur Bryant and Bengt Berg in trying to arrange talks with Adolf Hitler. However, Lord Halifax informed the men that the proposal to grant Germany control over Poland and Czechoslovakia was not acceptable to the government.
