Henry Howard

Henry Howard, the son of Thomas Howard, Duke of Norfolk, was born in 1516. He was a close friend of Henry Fitzroy, Duke of Richmond, the illegitimate son of Henry VIII. Henry Fitzroy eventually married Henry Howard's sister.
Howard served under his father in Scotland (1542) and France (1544) and became Governor of Boulogne in 1545. An opponent of the Protestant religion, Henry VIII ordered his arrest and execution in 1547.
A talented poet, his Songs and Sonnets were published posthumously in 1557.
