Thomas Seymour, the son of Sir John Seymour, and the brother of Thomas Seymour and Jane Seymour, was born in 1508. A soldier and diplomat, Seymour was created Lord Admiral when Edward became king in 1547.

Later that year Seymour married Catherine Parr, but died in childbirth in 1548. The following year he was arrested and charged with conspiring against his brother, Thomas Seymour, Protector of the Realm.

Thomas Seymour was executed in 1549.
