Nina Evans, the daughter of a superintendent of schools, was born in Auburn, Kansas, in 1872. Attended Concoran School of Art and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. A member of the National Women's Party, she was the main contributor of cartoons to The Suffragist.

Nina married an English banker, Charles Allender. He deserted her and it later emerged that he had left England to avoid a prison sentence for embezzlement and forgery. Nina Evans Allender died in 1957.
