After
the passing of the 19th Amendment one of the
leaders of National
American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA),
Carrie Chapman
Catt, suggested the formation of the League
of Women Voters.
The main objective of the organization was to encourage women to become
involved in politics. Its first president was Maud
Park and Adena Rich served as vice-president
(1923-1926).
