Otto
Kahn was
born in Mannheim, Germany in 1867. He
worked as a banker in London before emigrating
to the United States in 1893. He settled in New
York City where he joined Kuhn, Loeb & Company in 1897. With
his partners Paul Warburg and Jacob
Schiff Kahn made a great deal of money from financing railroads.
He used some of his wealth to build up a large art collection and
to fund the Metropolitan Opera Company. Kahn died in 1934.
