Charles Bicknell played for Chesterfield before being transferred to Bradford City. He appeared in 244 consecutive games for Bradford City before West Ham signed him in 1936. Bicknell only missed one game for West Ham before the outbreak of the war. He was also appointed club captain and was a member of the West Ham team that beat Blackburn 1-0 in the 1940 FA Cup Final. He regained his place after the war and played another 19 games before becoming manager of Bedford Town in 1947. |
