The club made several new signings that year including Kaye, Hugh Monteith (Bristol City), Fergus Hunt (Arsenal), Freddie Fenton (Gainsborough), James Reid (Port Vale), George Radcliffe (Grimsby Town) and Billy Grassam (Port Vale). Kaye played in all the forward positions but in his 17 games he scored only 4 goals. At the end of the season he left England to play in Northern Ireland.
