The FA Cup game where Sydney Puddefoot scored five goals against Chesterfield.

 

 

 

Sydney Puddefoot was signed by West Ham United manager, Syd King, after seeing him play for London Juniors in 1912. He established an FA Cup goal scoring record for the club in January, 1913, when he scored five times in an 8-1 victory over Chesterfield. Five years later he scored seven in a game against Crystal Palace. Puddefoot was sold to Falkirk for £5,000 in 1922. Later he moved to Blackburn Rovers and was a member of its team that won the 1928 FA Cup Final. At the age of 37 Puddefoot returned to West Ham United in a vain attempt to prevent West Ham from being relegated from the First Division (1931-32). He later coached the Turkish clubs, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.
