Thomas (Tom) Galley was born in Hednesford on 4th August 1915. A wing-half, he joined Notts County in 1933. The following year, Major Frank Buckley, the manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers, signed Galley.

Galley made his league debut on 5th January 1935 in a goalless draw at Sunderland. He joined a team that included Charlie Phillips, Dai Richards, Reg Hollingsworth, Billy Barraclough, Billy Hartill, Stan Cullis and Tom Smalley.

In the 1935-36 season finishing in 15th place, only five points above the relegated teams, Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers.

Galley remained in good form and he won his first international cap for England against Norway on 14th May 1937. The team that day included Cliff Britton, Wilf Copping, Len Goulden, Alf Kirchen, George Male, Freddie Steele, Vic Woodley and Alf Young. Galley scored one of the goals in England's 6-0 victory. He also played in the game against Sweden (4-0).

During the Second World War, he served in France and Germany with the Royal Artillery, and guested for Aldershot, Leeds United and Watford.

After scoring 41 goals in 186 games for Wolverhampton Wanderers Galley moved to Grimsby Town in 1947. He also played for Kidderminster Harriers.

Tom Galley died in Cannock in 2000.
