Introduction
Education
on the Internet
is published by Spartacus
Educational every week. The newsletter includes news, reviews
of websites and articles on using ICT in the classroom. Members of
the mailing list are invited to submit information for inclusion in
future newsletters. In this way we hope to create a community of people
involved in using the Internet in education. Currently there are 30,380
subscribers to the newsletter.

BETT:
The BETT show, the annual international event that encourages and
extends effective use of ICT in education, is being held at Olympia
on 8th to 11th January, 2003. At the show there are numerous opportunities
for professional development including the seminar programme and the
Policy in Practice area offering practical advice on implementing
education policy and funding. With thousands of educational software,
hardware, online, multimedia and IT support products and services
on display, this event has become the only opportunity in the education
calendar where you can establish the best products for your institution
from the entire range of leading educational suppliers.
Spring
Day Plaza: The Plaza is where visitors to the website can find
teachers from Europe and beyond. It is the place where you to talk
about life, family, the past, present and future of Europe. The plaza
includes a lobby for everybody to meet, a special area for scheduled
chats, and chat rooms for topical talks. People can open their own
chat rooms to get some peace and quiet for a conversation.

Protection Errors can occur due to many different causes, including:
virtual driver (VxD) problems, conflicts between real-mode and protected-mode
drivers, a damaged Registry; a virus; Plug-and-Play malfunction; and
hardware problems, including a malfunctioning cache, malfunctioning
RAM, or a damaged motherboard. The articles on this website should
be quite helpful in identifying and resolving these problems.

Directory: A directory of 280 Internet links on Europe. The material
is organized under the headings: Enlargement, Economy, Newspapers,
Politics, History, Citizen & Culture, European Union Institutions,
Statistics, Atlas, European Countries, Pedagogy and Miscellaneous.
History
GCSE
History Pages: A website produced by history teachers at the Dartford
Technology College. A revision site for GCSE Schools History project
students it has been online for 18 months and is steadily growing.
It's main features include interactive tests and quizzes, revision
tips, practice exam papers with mark-schemes for self assessment,
revision notes and structured lessons. It also has an ask a teacher
facility which is open for anyone to use.
The
Alger Hiss Story:
This website recreates one of the most important legal cases in this
country's history, often cited as a turning point in 20th century
American thinking. The website is an authoritative portal for access
to primary information about Alger Hiss, the Hiss case and the early
Cold War years - including new scholarship, newly released official
documents from various governments and government agencies, and the
archival material, such as trial testimony, court and government records
and commentary, collected in many libraries and online repositories.

Published by StartSpot Mediaworks in the Northwestern University,

Roget's
Thesaurus: Peter Roget was a physician at the Manchester Infirmary.
As a young man he began to compile a simple wordlist for his own use
and during his lifetime he continued to improve and add to it. In
1852 he published his Thesaurus of English Words and Phrases, a collection
of words and phrases arranged according to ideas rather than alphabetically.
This website provides a free online version of this amazing work.

Night Museum:
Silent Night has become an anchor for Christmas celebrations throughout
the world. Its lullaby-like melody and simple message of heavenly
peace can be heard from small town street corners in mid-America to
magnificent cathedrals in Europe and from outdoor candlelight concerts
in Australia to palm thatched huts in northern Peru. This cyber-museum
was created by historian Bill Egan to provide a world wide audience
with the true story behind the composition of "Silent Night"
by Joseph Mohr and Franz Gruber.

They can be inconsistencies in movies, like an actor wearing something
in one shot, and it's missing in the next shot. Or they can be funny
errors in books. The website includes sections on Movies (9,052),
TV (2,148), Books (266) and Quotes (181).

Movie Database: The Internet Movie Database is the ultimate online
movie database covering over 325,000 titles and over 1,000,000 people
with facts, trivia, reviews plus multimedia links from the earliest
films to the latest releases. The Movie database can be searched by
Movie/TV Title, Cast/Crew Name, Character Name and Word Search.
